Instructions for setting compression in your browser
To improve performance for our customers who use e-Services via a modem, but also for those who are connected to a network, we have activated compression of information sent to your web browser.

To activate, the web browser must send an HTTP 1.1 call. Internet Explorer normally does this but if you connect via a proxy server to the Internet, Internet Explorer with its standard settings will not send an HTTP 1.1 call. To configure so that an HTTP 1.1 call is used even if you are connected by proxy, proceed as follows:

I. Start Internet Explorer
II Go to the Tools menu
III. Choose Internet alternatives
IV. Click on the 'Advanced' tab
V. Find 'HTTP 1.1 settings'
VI. Ensure that both alternatives 'Use HTTP 1.1' and 'Use HTTP 1.1 by proxy' have been marked.
VII. Click on OK

Internet Explorer will now always send an HTTP 1.1 call and you will be able to benefit from compression in the form of shorter response times.

Customers who are connected via a modem will notice the greatest difference.

If you have any technical problems with your system, contact the IT Servicedesk, tel. +46 (0)456-45064, Monday-Friday 07.00 – 18.00.

NOTE
It has been noted that certain computers do not always function with another setting. It is therefore important to use the setting stated below to avoid operating problems.

The cache function activated (recommended for e-Services users)
The cache function 'activated automatically' means that the browser decides whether a cached page is to be used. You save images locally on your PC, which means that the web server does not need to constantly send all the data to your PC. This improves the response times slightly.

Proceed as follows:
I. Choose Tools
II. Choose Internet alternatives
III. Click on the 'settings' button
IV. Choose 'automatic'
V. State how much disk space you wish to reserve for 'saved images', e.g. 100 Mb. (In the example above 256 Mb has been reserved.).
VII. Click on OK
